Busse Forest South – Grove 26 Schaumburg, IL
We’re still new and getting off the ground, so a casual picnic theme feels just right for our first national gathering, and Chicago’s beautiful Busse Forest South is the perfect locale. Just minutes from O’ Hare airport and nestled in the shopping, restaurant, and hotel rich Schaumburg. We will have food on the grill, beer and wine, and activities for young and old, including speakers- including Dawkins Foundation Trustee and author of Why We Believe in God(s): A Concise Guide to the Science of Faith J. Anderson Thomson as well as Illinois activist and secular rabble-rouser Rob Sherman, games, contests, a raffle, silent auction, and a DJ. Food and drinks are provided, but you can feel free to pack a picnic of your own.
Atheist Helping Hands will also have a booth to talk about their organization and will be accepting item donations that will be distributed to the homeless. Most needed items are food, toiletries, and backpacks. Food should be non perishable and easy to prepare with limited resources. Toiletries like toothbrushes/toothpaste, shaving kits, and deodorant.
